This Friday (20), the Ministry of Health reported that already 11 people are dead in Brazil victims of the coronavirus. But the pandemic also made Brazil's fatal victim abroad. A member of the team that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, scientist and chemical engineer Sérgio Trindade died in New York, at the age of 79. The information was provided by Agência Fapesp.

The Brazilian scientist was part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This group was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.

He currently worked as a consultant in sustainable business and was part of an intergovernmental agency associated with UNESCO.

The state of New York is where most cases are concentrated of coronavirus in the United States. As of this Friday (20th), there were a total of 5,715 confirmed cases and 38 dead.

Eleven dead in Brazil

The number of deaths in Brazil has risen to 11 due to the coronavirus. Nine victims are from the state of São Paulo and two from Rio de Janeiro. The number of people infected by the virus rose to 904 cases, 45% more than the previous day.

On Monday (16), there were 234 confirmed infected.

According to the Health Department of São Paulo, the four deaths recorded in the state this Friday (30) are of elderly people, all of them hospitalized in the private network and who already faced other health problems. There are three men, aged between 70 and 93 years old, and a woman aged 83 years old. In the state there are 9,023 suspected cases and 396 confirmed cases.

Also on Friday (20), the Minister of Health, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, said that between the months of April and June the cases of coronavirus should shoot in the country. According to him, the growth rate of positive cases should decrease in July and the “flattening of the curve” should only start in August.

Deaths in Italy exceed 4 thousand

In Italy, parents who have suffered the most from coronavirus, the death toll reached 4,000. Only on Friday (20), 627 deaths were confirmed, increasing to 4,032 the number of fatalities caused by the pandemic in the country.

In 24 hours, the number of positive cases across Italy increased by 14.6%, from 41,035 to 47,021. The region most affected is Lombardy, where 22,264 cases were detected with a total of 2,549 deaths.

As a more rigid measure to contain the spread of the virus, Italians are only able to leave home if it is a case of extreme need and if they are stopped by some authority they must present a declaration made in their own hand.

Worldwide, more than ten thousand deaths and more than 245 thousand people have already been infected by the virus that originated in China.
