After controversy and criticism, the Napoli board decided to postpone the players' return to training, amid the pandemic of coronavirus. The club had announced last week that it would return to work on Wednesday this week, despite the country's successive records in number of deaths from the virus.

“Napoli announces that all sports activities are suspended until a new date. The return to training will be decided based on the evolution of the fight against the covid-19 ”, he officially announced.

On Friday of last week, the team surprised by announcing the resumption of work just on the day that the country confirmed the death of 627 people, until then the biggest daily increase since the beginning of the pandemic. Altogether, Italy already totals 5,476 deaths.

The decision to resume training has generated a lot of criticism for the club, mainly because the number of deaths continues to increase daily in Italy.

All sports in the country have been suspended since March 9, in an attempt by the government to contain the spread of the virus. The Italian Championship was stopped in early March, just after the 26th round. In their last game, Napoli beat Torino 2-1 on 29 February.
