US President Donald Trump announced on Monday on his social media his full support for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the future of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games dispute.
“We support any decision because we know it will be correct. We will be guided by the wishes of Prime Minister Abe of Japan, a great friend of the United States, and a man who has done a magnificent job in the Olympic organization. He will make the right decision, ”wrote the president on his Twitter account.

Trump spoke out after Abe demonstrated his willingness to discuss the postponement of the Games, according to the announcement made in the last hours by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“If it is very difficult to proceed with organizing the Olympics as planned, to prioritize the well-being of athletes, it will be inevitable to discuss the decision to postpone the dates,” said the Japanese prime minister during a speech at a session of Parliament .
Abe responded to the IOC's decision last Sunday to give it a four-week period to study whether it will be possible to keep the calendar. If not, decide when it can be disputed, in view of the worsening global crisis caused by the virus.
In addition, Canada and Australia, two countries with a strong Olympic weight, have announced that they are renouncing participation in the Games if they are not postponed.
