The 20 clubs of the Brazilian Serie B Championship jointly announced on Thursday the measures to decrease spending during the shutdown of the football calendar due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The team leaders decided to give the teams a 20-day collective vacation from April 1st and reduce athletes' salaries by 25% after that period.

The Serie B teams made this decision after negotiations between the National Club Council (CNC) and the National Federation of Professional Football Athletes (Fenapaf) ended without agreement. The biggest divergence between the two parties is precisely the possible reduction in wages and the time of collective vacation. Who announced the collective decision valid for Serie B was Chapecoense, in a note published on the website.

However, the president of Fenapaf, Felipe Augusto Leite, said he was surprised by the note, as the clubs, the CBF and the entity that represents the players have a meeting scheduled for the afternoon of this Thursday, starting at 4 pm. “It was a hasty decision to release this note. Collective vacations must be appropriate for the period determined by CBF. We are looking to discuss with one unit, with 46 clubs together. What is the point of deciding on holidays now if you can get a vaccine next week? ”, He told the State.

Participants in the second national division announced that initially the players and officials will have a collective vacation of 20 days, extendable for another 10. The possible extension of the rest period will be defined in a meeting on April 15, when the officers will evaluate the scenario of the pandemic The clubs still want an intertempora of 20 days before the resumption of competitions.

In terms of salary, the Serie B teams defined that if the stoppage extends beyond the collective vacation, the players would have a 25% reduction in salaries. As long as there is no calendar, there will be no payment of image rights and each team will have to evaluate how they will do this negotiation. The boards also undertake to pay the salaries for the month of March.

According to Chapecoense, the readjustment package was presented by videoconference this Thursday morning to coach Umberto Louzer and players Alan Ruschel, Anselmo Ramon, João Ricardo and Kadu.
